Corporate social responsibility
We have always believed that it is important to be committed to public interest services and we encourage all of our staff to engage in our Corporate social responsibility programme.
PRO BONO
Our firm is regularly involved in a range of pro bono work, providing free legal services to non-profit organisations and individuals in need. As lawyers, we believe this part of our activity to be ethically important and to be fundamental to the integrity of the profession and the judicial system. In the emerging sector of microfinance – where Luxembourg has developed into a premier actor – we are regularly providing our services either on a purely pro bono basis or at very significantly reduced rates.
CHARITY
At the beginning of 2010 we entered into a long-term partnership with “Croix-Rouge luxembourgeoise”. Through this collaboration, the Firm’s charity fundraising, pro bono work and volunteering efforts come together. Not only do we support the Luxembourg Red Cross financially, but we also give them moral and personal support in their various projects and events. Participating in the Croix-Rouge’s annual “Quinzaine du Don”, collecting material for refugees hosted in the “Foyer Don Bosco”, organising internal fund raising events or promoting blood donations are just some of the projects in which the entire staff is involved and where we endeavour to “improve the lives of vulnerable people”.
Since 2008 we have been actively and financially supporting the “Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner” (a registered charity in aid of children with cancer).
Established in Bangladesh in 1998, "Friendship" is a value-based organisation, which identifies and reaches the poorest of the poor and the most marginalised communities in Bangladesh. "Friendship"'s primary mission is to help the destitute population of the Nomad Islands (the Chars) located on the Brahmaputra, and bring emergency relief and rehabilitation to disaster-stricken areas of the country. It acts primarily in the areas of health, education, economic development and emergency assistance. There is also an important cultural preservation dimension to its commitment. Our financial support to "Friendship" is more particularly designated to co-fund an integrated development project (health, education, vocational training and income generation) in 6 Nomad Islands located on the Brahmaputra in the Northern districts of Bangladesh.
FAIR TRADE
ENVIRONMENT
We have established an environmental management programme and have, in this respect, strengthened the initiatives to encourage recycling and the use of environmentally friendly products. Thus, we exclusively use recycled FSC paper and, as far as possible, promote black and double-sided printing by default. For all our office supplies we choose “green” products, i.e. re-usable products and products made of recycled and/or recyclable materials whenever these are available. Moreover, we ensure that waste is properly separated. We were awarded the "SuperDrecksKëscht fir Betriber" Label in 2011.
